ESG

Purpose Driven Growth

True progress is not only measured through financial results, but also by our positive impact on the world around us. Sunshine’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles is the very fabric of our operations, driving long-term value for our stakeholders and contributing towards a more sustainable Sri Lanka.

Our Blueprint for a Sustainability Future

Sustainability goes beyond a mere corporate responsibility for us, defining how we grow and constantly innovate. For over five decades, we have strived to deliver high-quality healthcare, consumer goods, and agribusiness solutions while empowering communities and safeguarding the environment. SUN initiatives have contributed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency across our operations.

Environmental
Stewardship

Our businesses rely on the availability of natural resources, and we recognise our responsibility to protect them. We prioritise eco-efficiency by reducing emissions, optimising energy and water usage, and minimising waste. Through investments in sustainable sourcing and green innovations, we are actively lowering our carbon footprint while supporting biodiversity. We are also aligning our environmental reporting with science-based targets and internationally recognised frameworks, for both measurable and transparent progress.

Social Commitment

We have always been deeply connected to the communities we serve. Our social agenda focuses on inclusive growth, employee wellbeing, and empowering local communities. Through initiatives such as “Manudam Mehewara”, we have contributed to nationwide disaster relief, supporting families in times of crisis. We are committed to building a culture of equity and respect, providing opportunities for career growth, and creating safe and inclusive workplaces. Our goal is to ensure that every Sunshine stakeholder, from employee to community partner, benefits from our growth journey.

Governance & Framework

We believe strong governance is the foundation of sustainable growth. In 2024–25, Sunshine Holdings initiated a comprehensive ESG gap assessment and strengthened reporting processes to align with IFRS S1 and S2 sustainability disclosure standards. Our ESG strategy is overseen by senior leadership and integrated into decision-making, risk management, and strategic planning, ensuring accountability at every level of the organisation. By following global best practices and local regulations, we aim to set a new benchmark for transparency, ethical business conduct, and investor confidence in Sri Lanka’s corporate sector.
