Sustainability & Best Practices
Greening Our Parlours for Sustainable Dairy
A fully computerised DAIRYMASTER milking parlour system, imported from Ireland, has been integrated into Watawala Dairy Farm. This state-of-the-art technology monitors yield and milk quality for each animal, while sensors clipped to every heifer’s ear track temperature, activity, resting time, rumination, and feeding behaviour — ensuring optimal welfare and care for the herd.
Since 2017, we have invested in purchasing maize, our main fodder, from over 40 suppliers across regions such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Ampara, Monaragala, and Mahiyanganaya — providing vital livelihood support to Sri Lanka’s maize farming community.
