Sunshine Foundation for Good opens 20th RO Plant in Senagama

Affirms commitment to bring good things to Sri Lankan lives through Diyasarana

In a continued commitment to enriching lives and addressing urgent community needs, Sunshine Foundation for Good (SFG) – the CSR arm of Sunshine Holdings PLC – recently opened its 20th Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant in the rural village of Senagama, Naula. This initiative will provide safe drinking water to over 2,000 residents, aiming to improve health and alleviate the burden of waterborne diseases across the community.

The Diyasarana initiative is Sunshine Foundation’s proactive response to addressing the CKDu crisis. Since the commissioning of its first RO plant in Katharagama, SFG has successfully installed 20 RO plants across the country, furthering its goal of ensuring ‘Better Water, Better Life.’ Additionally, by aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) of ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’, SFG is committed to ensuring equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all. As SFG continues its work, Sunshine Holdings hopes to reach more communities, ensuring a better, healthier future for rural Sri Lanka.

As per the vision of its Founder, diversified Sri Lankan conglomerate Sunshine Holdings firmly believes in giving back to the society beyond the company’s nation-building efforts across its key business sectors. With the establishment of ‘Sunshine Foundation for Good’ (SFG) during its 50th anniversary, all Group strategic business units (SBUs) channel their CSR efforts and initiatives under one umbrella, with health and education being the two main pillars of the foundation.

Founded during Sunshine Holdings’ 50th anniversary, the Sunshine Foundation for Good unites the CSR efforts of all group companies under one mission—to support and uplift employees, shareholders, and communities under two main pillars: health and education.

“The prevailing cases of CKDu in many areas of Sri Lanka reflect the pressing need for safe drinking water. In such a context, the RO Plant we opened in Senagama is more than a water purification system; it is a lifeline that brings health, hope, and resilience to the community. Each plant we establish safeguards thousands from the dangers of waterborne diseases, Sunshine Holdings is committed to empowering these communities, one drop at a time and giving back to the society that we operate in.”
